How do I link my partner? +
When setting up Balance, you'll be asked to enter your partner's email address. An invitation is sent automatically. When they download Balance and sign up with that same email address, they are automatically linked to your account — no code or extra step needed.
What if my partner hasn't received an invitation? +
Ask them to check their spam folder. If nothing is there, you can re-send the invitation from Settings → Partner. Make sure they're signing up with the exact email address you used.
Can we do the assessment on one device? +
Yes. Use the 'Answer now' feature to allow one partner to complete their assessment independently on a shared device, then hand it over. Both assessments remain separate so neither partner influences the other's answers.
What are the four task categories? +
Balance tracks Operational tasks (cooking, cleaning, school runs), Cognitive load (planning, scheduling, remembering), Emotional labour (managing moods, supporting your partner, family wellbeing), and Coordination (social calendars, family admin, gift buying). The assessment covers up to 30 questions across these four categories and is fully personalizable. Each category contributes to your Balance Score.
What is the Balance Score? +
Your Balance Score aggregates task frequency, mental effort, and perceived contribution across all four categories into a single number. High (≥70) means load is well shared. Moderate (40–69) means room to improve. Low (<40) means a significant imbalance is present.
What is the perception gap? +
The perception gap shows the difference between how much load you carry and how much your partner thinks you carry. A positive gap means your contribution is recognised. A negative gap means your work is underestimated — this is where the app helps start a productive conversation.
How does the weekly Check-in work? +
Each week, Balance prompts you to do a 5-minute Check-in across all four categories. It's recommended weekly and tracks how your load distribution shifts over time — so you can see whether things are improving, staying the same, or getting worse.
Is my data private? +
Yes. Your data is stored securely on Firebase and shared only with your linked partner for comparison purposes. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I delete my account? +
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. All your data is permanently removed within 30 days. You can also email us to request deletion.
